Baseball Recap: Red Bank Takes a Loss

Red Bank was the 14-7 winner over McMinn Central when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers on Friday. The Lions' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Sean Brune spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Red Bank saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andry Briceno, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Nasir Ellis also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Red Bank's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for McMinn Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Red Bank will challenge East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.64 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for McMinn Central, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Ooltewah at 11:00 a.m. The Chargers will need to watch out since the Owls have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
