Recap: Foothill Cougars vs. West Valley Eagles
The Foothill Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 65-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Valley. Foothill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Tyler Zanhiser and Cade Memeo certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Zanhiser scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Memeo scored 12 points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Belair, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Leading West Valley to victory were Chase Kalnins and Jordan Heacock. Kalnins scored 25 points along with two steals, while Heacock scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kalnins hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Blaze Collins, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Foothill has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for West Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
Foothill will head out on the road to square off against Chico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chico has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for West Valley, they will be playing at home against University Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
