Game recap

La Vernia (Texas) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as it scored a touchdown with 2:00 left, bringing the team to victory over Canyon Lake (Fischer, Texas) 14-13.

The score was knotted at seven heading into the half. The Bears took the lead for good on a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Canyon Lake's Branson Belcher was the standout player for his team. He threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.

La Vernia got revenge for last year's 34-23 loss to CL with the victory.

The win was a nice bounce back for LV, which lost to Calhoun last week, 56-40. The victory snapped the Bears' 2-game losing streak.

Canyon Lake (1-2) will play a non-conference game against Burnet next week, while La Vernia (1-2) will take on Wimberley also in a non-conference game.
