Baseball Game Preview: Alhambra Lions vs. Metro Tech Knights

The Alhambra Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Metro Tech Knights at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Metro Tech took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Alhambra, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Alhambra made easy work of McClintock and carried off a 13-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ricardo Fonseca made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Fonseca was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Jose Emilio Mendez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Christopher Martinez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McClintock only posted an OBP of .276.

Meanwhile, Metro Tech didn't have quite enough to beat Fairfax on Thursday and fell 14-13. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alhambra is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. Metro Tech's loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
