Basketball Recap: Vardaman Takes a Loss

Vardaman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Bruce Trojans, falling 68-35. The Rams were down 54-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Bruce was led to victory by Ayden Welch and Jermaine Jackson. Welch went 8-for-18 to rack up 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals, while Jackson shot 46% from the field on his way to 13 points and seven steals. Those seven boards gave Welch a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of JaColbi Clark, who went 5-for-12 en route to 11 points.

Vardaman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Bruce, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vardaman will challenge Eupora at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bruce, they will welcome Hamilton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
