Scott took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Cooper, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Scott Eagles skirted past the Cooper Jaguars 14-13. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Ashlyn Riley and Elise Manhardt did most of the damage at the plate: Riley scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Manhardt scored three runs while going 2-for-5. What's more, Riley posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Jones, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
The victory got Scott back to even at 1-1. As for Cooper, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scott will head out to challenge Scott County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cooper, they will face off against Simon Kenton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
