Baseball Recap: Southern Aroostook Has No Trouble Against Ashland

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Fairfield, Southern Aroostook was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Ashland Hornets as they made off with a 19-5 win. That 14 run margin sets a new team best for the Warriors this season.

Ethan Collier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Collier was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Southern Aroostook's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jakoby Porter was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elliot Lee, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Southern Aroostook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Southern Aroostook back to even at 4-4. As for Ashland, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coincidentally, Southern Aroostook and Ashland will both be playing Central Aroostook the next time they take the field. The Warriors will head out to face the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Hornets will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
