Monte Vista Christian entered their tilt with Evergreen Valley on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Cougars. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 4-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brady Cortez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Tyson Shaw was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Vessey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Monte Vista Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monte Vista Christian will venture away from home to face off against Stevenson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Evergreen Valley, they will head out to square off against Cupertino at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
