Basketball Recap: Eau Gallie Takes a Loss

Eau Gallie lost against Viera back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eau Gallie Commodores were beaten by the Viera Hawks 65-23. While losing is never fun, the Commodores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Hawks are ranked 114th).

Several Commodores players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dj Maultsby, who posted six points. That's the most points Maultsby has posted since back in January of 2024.

Eau Gallie has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Viera, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

When Eau Gallie and Viera next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Eau Gallie will try to stop Merritt Island's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Viera will try to stop Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
