Basketball Recap: Heritage Leadership Academy Comes Up Short at Home Against Grovemont

Heritage Leadership Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Grovemont Spartans on Tuesday, falling 65-38. The Fletchers were down 50-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Jacob Peterson and Jonathan Emerick certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Peterson posted nine points, while Emerick had ten points.

David Lyon was nothing short of spectacular for Grovemont: he dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Lyon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Madden Smith, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 11 points and eight boards.

The victory got Grovemont back to even at 1-1.

Heritage Leadership Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-21 win against Youngsville Academy Charter on the 13th. As for Grovemont, they have also already played their next game, a 61-60 loss against DASH on the 14th.
