Baseball Recap: Walker's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Walker won against Mt. Bethel Christian Academy last Saturday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Walker Wolverines skirted past The Weber School Rams 5-4. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 9-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Jonathan Griggs, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Walker: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was David Griggs, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Walker, bringing their record for this year to 7-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for The Weber School, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walker will square off against Whitefield Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for The Weber School, they will challenge Landmark Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Landmark Christian has three straight victories, The Weber School has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
