Baseball Recap: Mishawaka Beats Morgan Township for Their Third Straight Win

Mishawaka let Morgan Township stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Saturday but luckily Mishawaka prevailed anyway. The Cavemen came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cherokees, sneaking past 7-5. Winning may never get old, but the Cavemen sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Noah Deeds made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shawn Nowacki, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

Mishawaka's record now sits at 13-5. As for Morgan Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14-1.

Coming up, Mishawaka will be playing in front of their home fans against Goshen at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Morgan Township, they will head out on the road to square off against Hanover Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cherokees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
