Soccer Game Preview: Jefferson vs. Grosse Ile

Jefferson is 0-10 against Grosse Ile since May of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bears will challenge the Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Grosse Ile better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Jefferson's game on Monday is any indication, that's when Jefferson really gets things going. The Bears' defense stepped up to hand Advanced Tech Academy a 5-0 shutout. Camryn Cousino was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Jefferson used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Advanced Tech Academy. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Madalyn Thompson, Kate Otting, and Cousino. The new lineup might be seeing more playing time going forward considering the group combined for a total of five goals and four assist.

Meanwhile, Grosse Ile made easy work of Woodhaven back in March and carried off a 6-0 win. Grosse Ile have beaten Woodhaven the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Woodhaven has come to flipping the script.

The victory keeps Jefferson at an undefeated 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for Grosse Ile, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Jefferson suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Grosse Ile in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
