Softball Recap: Lakeridge Pacers vs. West Linn Lions

On Wednesday, Lakeridge faced West Linn in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Lakeridge Pacers fell just short of the West Linn Lions by a score of 10-8. Lakeridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Linn apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

LAUREN BEACH made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with a home run. LIVIA SAFRANSKI was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Lakeridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Linn struck out six times.

On West Linn's side, Avery Wolf tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Rylee Gaustad was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Brooke, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Lakeridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for West Linn, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeridge will take on Tualatin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Tualatin is coming into the game with seven straight losses on the road, meaning Lakeridge will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for West Linn, they will be playing at home against Tigard at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few runs on average, (West Linn: 2.9, Tigard: 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
