Volleyball Recap: Valders Finds Playoff Glory Versus Southern Door

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Valders had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Southern Door Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Eagles back in September, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-20.

Leading Valders to victory were Mariah McCulley and Audrey Wagner. McCulley had ten digs, while Wagner had 19 assists and six digs. That's the most assists Wagner has posted since back in September.

Despite the loss, Southern Door still got an impressive performance from Alanna Paye, who had 22 digs and three aces. Paye is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 22 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

With the win, Valders broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 23-14. As for Southern Door, they dropped their record down to 19-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Valders didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Brillion on the 25th. Southern Door does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
