Football Recap: Bristow Comes Up Short

After flying high against McLoud last Thursday, Bristow came back down to earth. The Pirates lost 49-28 to the Perkins-Tryon Demons on Friday. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 42-35 to the Demons when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Wyatt Atkinson produced another solid effort rushing for 175 yards and three scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown for Perkins-Tryon. Atkinson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 172 rushing yards. Beau Gravitt was another key player, throwing for 135 yards and a pair of TDs.

Bristow has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Perkins-Tryon, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Bristow will welcome Lone Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Perkins-Tryon, they will take on McLoud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Demons will be up against the Redskins' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.78 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
