Recap: Union City Chargers vs. Maple Valley Lions

The Union City Chargers can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 142-34 win over Maple Valley. Union City's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Union City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Willow Austin out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ellie Williams was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five steals.

Union City's win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7. As for Maple Valley, they bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union City will take on Reading at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maple Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Springport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Maple Valley likes a good challenge.
