Softball Recap: Hanson Memorial Find Success

It was a proper cat-fight when Hanson Memorial challenged Abbeville on Tuesday. Hanson Memorial skirted past Abbeville 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Claire Childres made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Camren Rochel was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Pitre, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Hanson Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Hanson Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Abbeville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hanson Memorial will head out to challenge Patterson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Patterson has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.31 runs per game on average), something Hanson Memorial will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Abbeville, they will head out on the road to square off against St. Martinville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Abbeville is facing St. Martinville at the right time seeing as St. Martinville is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
