Baseball Recap: Baldwin Find Success

After only one run in their last matchup, Baldwin made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oakleaf on Friday. The Indians skirted past the Knights 10-9. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-6 back in February.

Carson Duffy was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Baldwin is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Duffy was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Staley, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Baldwin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Williams, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Baldwin now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Oakleaf, their record now sits at 5-10.

Coming up, Baldwin will venture away from home to square off against West Nassau at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oakleaf, they will challenge Trinity Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
