Softball Recap: Lakewood's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After losing to Greeley West the last time they met, Lakewood decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Tigers came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 6-2 on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Madison Reisbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lakewood got a big performance out of Addison Gallegos, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Gallegos has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Alanni Maddux, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lakewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matchups.

Lakewood's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Greeley West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-12.

As of now, neither Lakewood nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
