Basketball Recap: Mulvane Gets the Win

Mulvane posted their closest win since January 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-36 victory over the Winfield Vikings. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Vikings are ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mulvane has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Winfield, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mulvane will challenge McPherson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winfield, they will head out on the road to take on Buhler on Friday.
