Central Valley strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They claimed a resounding 52-12 win over the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Renegades are ranked 71st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

One reason for the win was Central Valley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Gunnar Vanosdall and Oaklan Soto, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Central Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Central Valley will face off against Wilcox-Hildreth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Chambers/Wheeler Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
