Hastings took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Northwest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saxons skirted past the Mounties 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saxons have posted since May 20, 2025.

Ashtyn Denton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Raegan Wattles, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Kayden Brown was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Hastings' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-7. As for Northwest, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Hastings has already played their next contest (against Kellogg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Northwest, they will head out to take on Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
