Preview: Maconaquah Braves vs. Lewis Cass Kings

The Maconaquah Braves will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Lewis Cass Kings at 7:45 p.m. One thing working in Maconaquah's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Saturday, Maconaquah earned a 62-54 victory over Hamilton Heights. Given Maconaquah's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Hamilton Heights is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maconaquah's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Fuddy Kile, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Josiah Ball, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ball has scored at least a third of Maconaquah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Ellis, who scored two points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cass strolled past Taylor with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 51-36. That looming 51-36 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lewis Cass yet this season.

Lewis Cass relied on the efforts of Bryce Rudd, who scored 17 points, and L.j. Hillis, who scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rudd has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brennan Deeter, who scored nine points along with two steals.

Maconaquah is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Lewis Cass, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.

Maconaquah didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lewis Cass in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 74-69 win. Does Maconaquah have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lewis Cass turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
