Basketball Recap: Amirah Pena Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Denver South

Vista PEAK Prep won the last time they faced Denver South and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vista PEAK Prep Bison walked away with a 60-53 win over the Denver South Ravens.

Vista PEAK Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amirah Pena led the charge by putting up 20 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Hibbler, who posted 14 points and five steals.

Vista PEAK Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denver South only posted one assist.

Despite the defeat, Denver South saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ka'Niya Anderson had 15 points and six boards. Asha Daniels was another key player, earning 12 points and six rebounds.

Vista PEAK Prep's record is now 4-6. As for Denver South, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-4.

Vista PEAK Prep has already played their next match, an 85-50 defeat against Legend on the 15th. As for Denver South, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-33 loss against Rangeview on the 17th.
