Basketball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-39 last Monday.

Lilly Gerwert was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten boards for Bellwood-Antis. Gerwert has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Leigha Clapper was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

Central's record now sits at 2-14. As for Bellwood-Antis, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9.

Central and Bellwood-Antis could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Central will face off against Westmont Hilltop at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 291 places (522 vs. 231). Similarly, Bellwood-Antis (ranked 340th) will meet Central Cambria (ranked 115th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
