Baseball Recap: New Prairie Victorious

After only one run in their last game, New Prairie made sure to put some runs up on the board against Plymouth on Saturday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pilgrims, sneaking past 11-9. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Pilgrims recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Bryce Grzeskowiak looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sullivan Kress, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Reed Robinson was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run.

New Prairie lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

New Prairie's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Plymouth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

New Prairie will welcome Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Plymouth, they will head out to square off against NorthWood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pilgrims' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
