Recap: Johnson County Trojans vs. Georgia Military College Bulldogs
The Johnson County Trojans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against Georgia Military College by a score of 53-43. That's another feather in the cap for Johnson County, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Johnson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ziyah Lewis led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lewis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keondria Jenkins, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Georgia Military College lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anniston Gore. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Gore scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nickole Rudolph, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Even though they lost, Georgia Military College were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Johnson County pushed their record up to 5-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Georgia Military College, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.
