Basketball Recap: Agoura Comes Up Short

Agoura lost against Thousand Oaks back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Agoura Chargers were dealt a 65-25 loss at the hands of the Thousand Oaks Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while the Lancers are ranked 120th).

Aryanna Lopez had an outrageously good game for Thousand Oaks as she went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lopez a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Amanda Wang, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 13 points.

Agoura dropped their record down to 11-15 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Thousand Oaks, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Agoura will challenge Calabasas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Agoura is facing Calabasas at the right time seeing as Calabasas is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Thousand Oaks, they will square off against Newbury Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thousand Oaks is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
