Ballard fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Stanwood on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 3-2. The Beavers' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Colette Howren spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks.

Ballard's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Stanwood, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Ballard and Stanwood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Beavers will take on Seattle Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (10 vs. 182). Meanwhile, Stanwood (ranked 15th) will meet Marysville Getchell (ranked 131st) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
