Preview: Air Academy Kadets vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks
Air Academy and Cheyenne Mountain are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Air Academy Kadets will head out on the road to face off against the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Air Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, Air Academy earned a 58-50 win over Discovery Canyon.
Max Howery continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Air Academy's points. Noah Hellem was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They suffered a rough 75-51 loss at the hands of Lewis-Palmer. Cheyenne Mountain was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-20.
Air Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything came up roses for Air Academy against Cheyenne Mountain in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 89-53 win. Will Air Academy repeat their success, or does Cheyenne Mountain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
