Caden Douglass leads Hagerty to victory over Cypress Creek

Recap: Hagerty Huskies vs. Cypress Creek Bears

The Hagerty Huskies won the last time they faced the Cypress Creek Bears, and things went their way on Tuesday too. The stars were shining brightly for Hagerty in a 63-48 win over Cypress Creek. Given Hagerty's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Cypress Creek is ranked 533rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Caden Douglass was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. He set a new season high mark in steals with three. Alex Dipaolo was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.

Despite the loss, Cypress Creek saw an underclassman step up: Kason Beezer scored 22 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Jacopo Neri, who scored two points along with five rebounds.

Hagerty has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Cypress Creek, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hagerty will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Liberty is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Cypress Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Buena Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
