Softball Recap: Ballard Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Ballard had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They skirted past the Bishop Blanchet Bears 8-6. That's two games straight that the Beavers have won by exactly two runs.

Colette Howren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brooklyn Morris was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Annika Jahn, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Ballard hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matches.

Ballard's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop Blanchet, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
