Volleyball Recap: Strom Thurmond Takes a Loss

Strom Thurmond had taken Batesburg-Leesville down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Rebels lost 3-0 to the Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat on October 2nd.

Strom Thurmond was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Strom Thurmond still got an impressive performance from Jules Sides, who had 15 digs and three assists. Sides is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Strom Thurmond and nudges their season record down to 10-10. As for Batesburg-Leesville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-18-1 record this season.

Strom Thurmond and Batesburg-Leesville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rebels will head out on the road to take on Chester at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Batesburg-Leesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eau Claire at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
