Haxtun is 8-2 against Akron since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Fightin' Bulldogs will challenge the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Haxtun is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past McClave 50-8. Winning may never get old, but the Fightin' Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Haxtun had a senior duo take command as Colin Cone threw for 195 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 passes and Zach Statz rushed for 159 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. Statz's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 121 rushing yards. Haxtun's leading receiver Chase Goddard was Cone's top target yet again, picking up 143 receiving yards and three TDs.

Meanwhile, Akron faced Sanford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rams blew past the Mustangs 39-16.

A big part of Akron's win came down to the chemistry between Kolten Randel and his top target Jace Curtis. Randel threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes while Curtis picked up 256 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Curtis' longest reception was for an incredible 78 yards. Jakzon Livesay helped Randel out on the ground, rushing for 70 yards and one TD.

Haxtun's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Akron, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Haxtun has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 295.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Akron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 189.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Haxtun came up short against Akron in their previous matchup back in October, falling 28-24. Can the Fightin' Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
