Basketball Recap: Anthony Ibarra's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Baker over Summit Leadership Academy

Baker extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Monday, dropping them down to 0-2. They lost 68-42 to the Summit Leadership Academy EAGLES. The Braves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-3.

Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Ibarra, who posted seven points along with nine assists and five steals. Ibarra has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alfredo Medina-Robledo, who put up 11 points.

As for Summit Leadership Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 68.0 points this season.

Leading Summit Leadership Academy to victory were Israel Rupert and DayDay Hilt. Rupert dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards, while Hilt shot 47% from the field en route to 14 points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Logan Graham, who had six points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals.

Looking ahead, Baker is taking a road trip to square off against Lake Mead Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Summit Leadership Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lucerne Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
