The Upsala Cardinals will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Pierz Pioneers at 7:15 p.m. Upsala knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Pierz likes a good challenge.
Upsala put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Long Prairie-Grey Eagle with a sharp 70-46 win. Upsala's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Upsala's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Boeckermann, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Boeckermann hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Primus, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Little Falls scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, Pierz still came out on top. Pierz secured a 71-65 W over Little Falls. The victory was just what Pierz needed coming off of a 69-38 loss in their prior contest.
Upsala has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Pierz, their victory bumped their record up to 9-14.
