Volleyball Recap: New Athens Comes Up Short

New Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Okawville Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-20.

Despite the loss, New Athens still got an impressive performance from Jamie Wilson, who had 34 digs and one assist. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Albers, who had 15 digs.

New Athens' loss dropped their record down to 7-20. As for Okawville, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-11 record this season.

New Athens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Marissa/Coulterville on the 23rd. As for Okawville, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Carlyle on the 23rd.
