Basketball Recap: Maryvale Takes a Loss

Maryvale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Desert Mountain Wolves on the road by a 77-58 margin. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Maryvale saw an underclassman step up: freshman Elijah Antoine shot 64% from the field en route to 15 points. Antoine also brought in his first three-point shooting accuracy of the season. Another player making a difference was Keith Harrison, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Maryvale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Desert Mountain, the victory also got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maryvale will square off against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will be up against the Coyotes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Desert Mountain, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th.
