Basketball Preview: Union Knights/Damsels vs. Moniteau Warriors
The Union Knights/Damsels will venture away from home to challenge the Moniteau Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Union was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to North Clarion.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Trent Fleming, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Renwick, who posted nine points and five assists.
Meanwhile, Moniteau was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost to Clarion-Limestone at home by a 64-50 margin. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while the Lions are ranked 245th).
Union's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Moniteau, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Union strolled past Moniteau in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 48-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
