Baseball Recap: Eastbrook Drops Season-High Score on Maconaquah

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastbrook). Everything went their way against the Maconaquah Braves on Monday as they made off with an 18-9 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Austin Mikel and Jacob McDermit did most of the damage at the plate: Mikel went 4-for-5 with three runs and four RBI, while McDermit scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those three runs gave Mikel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Daugherty, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Eastbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .592. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Eastbrook and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Maconaquah, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Eastbrook will take on Wapahani at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maconaquah, they will square off against Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
