It was a good run, but Des Moines unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They came up short against the Roy/Mosquero Blue/Lady Blue, falling 59-38. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Blue/Lady Blue this season, with their most recent loss being a 67-39 defeat two weeks ago.

When it comes to explaining why Des Moines lost, don't look at Holly Ward. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points and seven rebounds. Ward has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katy Ward, who put up six points.

Roy/Mosquero got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sylviana Baca out in front who scored 12 points along with five assists and five boards. Nora Crisp was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points and seven rebounds.

Des Moines' loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Roy/Mosquero, the win keeps them at an undefeated 26-0.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Des Moines will square off against Springer at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Des Moines is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Roy/Mosquero, they will take on Dora at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Roy/Mosquero knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Dora likes a good challenge.
