Softball Recap: Toronto Has No Trouble Against Wellsville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madonna, Toronto was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Wellsville Tigers 13-3. The Red Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

Laney Danko was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Danko was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Adali Mick was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Jaylee Brown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Toronto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Toronto's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Toronto will host Wheeling Central Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wellsville, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Catholic Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
