Cairo-Durham had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Catskill Cats on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Mustangs were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Cats, so the Mustangs were just returning the favor.

Cairo-Durham not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Catskill between 17 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 25-19.

Ava Zeun paced Cairo-Durham's offense, picking up five kills. Zeun got some help from Gianna Lendin and her 12 assists. Finally, Kaitlyn Russell kept Cairo-Durham's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cairo-Durham will venture away from home to square off against Coxsackie-Athens at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Catskill, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
