Recap: Northwest Jaguars vs. Walter Johnson Wildcats
The Northwest Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 58-27 loss at the hands of Walter Johnson. Northwest has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Walter Johnson found their leader in underclassman Elizabeth Martin, who scored 11 points along with eight steals. Another player making a difference was Mira Mann, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Northwest's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.6 points per game. As for Walter Johnson, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest will take on the Blue Devils at TBD on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Springbrook is ranked 232nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 234th). As for Walter Johnson, they will play host again and welcome the Colonels, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
