Softball Recap: Ponte Vedra Gets the Win

Ponte Vedra hadn't done well against Clay recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Ponte Vedra Sharks came out on top against the Clay Blue Devils by a score of 5-1. This was payback for the Sharks, who suffered a 9-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Aoife Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run allowed (which was unearned) on two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Siebenaler, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Alaina Daughtry was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Ponte Vedra and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs over those games. As for Clay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponte Vedra will head out to take on Fletcher at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clay, they are taking a road trip to face off against Orange Park at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clay is facing Orange Park at the right time seeing as Orange Park is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
