Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Lions vs. Whittier Christian Heralds

The Edgewood Lions will head out on the road to take on the Whittier Christian Heralds at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgewood has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Edgewood is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Garfield on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to the Bulldogs.

Edgewood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Johnathan Enriquez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Enriquez also got two hits, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Whittier Christian fell victim to Trabuco Hills and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 6-0.

Whittier Christian also got a good showing from Terry Han, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Han has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances.

Edgewood's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Whittier Christian, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-2.
