Paraclete has gone a perfect 4-0 against St. Paul recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Paraclete Spirits will venture away from home to face off against the St. Paul Swordsmen at 3:15 p.m. Paraclete is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Paraclete after they put the first points on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Bishop Amat by a score of 6-4.
Antonio Longobardi was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Armando Saucedo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Paul, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Oxford Academy 16-1 on Saturday. The contest marked the Swordsmen's most dominant victory of the season so far.
Troy Sibolboro made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other pitching news, Taylor Sundstrom looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
Back at the plate, Elias Mota was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Fernado Moreno was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
St. Paul always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
St. Paul's record is now 6-3. As for Paraclete, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Paraclete skirted past St. Paul 6-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Does Paraclete have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Paul turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
