Softball Recap: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Syracuse Rockets
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Calhoun). Everything went their way against the Syracuse Rockets on Thursday as the Fort Calhoun Pioneers made off with a 14-4 win. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Tacey Belina was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Fort Calhoun let Kaylee Taylor and Dehlia Hallberg loose on the outfield. Taylor scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Hallberg went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.
