Baseball Game Preview: Estill County Engineers vs. Lee County Bobcats

Estill County has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lee County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Estill County will look to defend their home field against Lee County at 6:00 p.m. Estill County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Lee County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Estill County blew Montgomery County out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Montgomery County got their revenge. Estill County fell just short of Montgomery County by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Engineers have suffered against the Indians since May 3, 2018.

Logan Friend put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Friend wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Drake, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lee County). Everything went their way against Buckhorn on Friday as Lee County made off with a 17-3 win. The Bobcats have beaten the Wildcats the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.

The victory got Lee County back to even at 3-3. As for Estill County, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Estill County took their win against Lee County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. Does Estill County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lee County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
